Every time new players join the game, this is a frequently asked question. Bridges don’t appear in the build menu – and at the moment there’s very little spare time to play around with the features of the game. So to help out new players, here’s a repost from a couple of months back.

When you first begin to play the game, there are one or two things that most people feel should be really easy to do – but just don’t seem to be as easy as you think they should be. One of these things is building the bridges you see over the rivers in your friends’ Springfields (and in the Other Springfield, too). After all, you certainly can’t buy the bridges with either cash or donuts, and they don’t appear as one of the free items on the page you go to when you want to move everything around.

But the bridges are free and very easy to build, and this is how you do it:

1. Build a river – make it at least 2 or 3 squares long

2. Then, build a road across your river

3. There you have your bridge

With a bit of practice, you can do some pretty cool things with bridges. Here’s a picture from Shelley, a reader of this blog, showing a section of her Springfield. It can take a bit of patience to do, though:

So, go and try it out. Have fun building your bridges. And feel free to post links here to your bridge creations.
