I’ve posted on this before, but with a whole new world of Android users joining the game, together with today’s problems, I thought it was worth posting again.

This is something that happens a lot following an update – the servers have trouble handling all of the millions of players who want to update at the same time. This was a problem when there were only Apple users and I expect to see this happening more often now everyone can play.

Sometimes this is a local issue and sometimes it’s global. The best advice is to relax – everything should be back to normal within a few hours.

In the meantime, here are some practical things you can do:

1. Check the official Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/TheSimpsonsTappedOut – it tends to go into meltdown at any drop in playability. It will help you determine whether this is an issue for everyone or just you. If it’s an issue for everyone, EA are probably on to it and things will be back to normal soon.

2. Check the official Simpsons Tapped Out forums at http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/categories/show/233.page – you can get a good indication here of whether the problem you’re experiencing is affecting everyone or just a small number of people.

3. For Apple users, also check the status of the Origin servers at http://www.origin.com/status – they control getting you into the game, keeping you there, and whether or not you can visit your friends. If anything is red or orange, then Origin have some things they need to fix. This shouldn’t be an issue for Android users at the moment, though.
