Santa’s Little Helper has been part of the series since very near the beginning, first appearing in the Christmas episode Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire. And that’s why it was appropriate that he first appeared in the game as part of the Christmas update – and until the Christmas event finished on January 10, 2013, you could buy him for 1500 gold coins. Since then, he’s been available as a premium character worth 150 donuts.

Here’s a couple of reasons why you should think about buying him:

1. He completes a small set of 1 – the animals and pets set – which means you get the set completion bonus.

2. The Simpson’s family really isn’t complete without him (but where’s Snowball? Oh, that’s right… “She died, she died…”).

Unfortunately, there are a few very good reasons why you may want to spend your donuts elsewhere if you’re on a donut budget:

1. He really doesn’t do anything except bark, run in circles, and beg. He has no tasks and no characters interact with him.

2. Because he has no tasks, once you’ve bought him and he’s part of your Springfield, he doesn’t earn you any extra money or XP.

3. He’s quite expensive compared to characters that have buildings and tasks.

So, I hate to say it, but Santa’s Little Helper probably shouldn’t be at the top of your list of characters to buy with donuts.
